Our Luggage and Personal Effects cover includes a range of benefits to suit every type of traveller.
Depending on the policy you choose, you can be covered subject to sub-limits, terms, conditions or exclusions for:
- Personal Belongings: Up to $7,500 on our Top Cover for items such as clothing, shoes, and accessories against loss, theft, or damage
- High-Value Items: Coverage is available for specific high-value belongings like personal computers, tablets, cameras, and jewellery
- Travel Documents: Important travel documents, such as passports and visas, are covered up to $4,000 with our standard and top cover if lost, stolen or damaged
- Money: If your cash is lost or stolen we our standard and top cover can cover you for up to $400
- Delayed Luggage: Up to $400 coverage for essential items with our standard and top cover while waiting for your bags to arrive
- Accidental Damage: Protection against unexpected damage to your items while travelling.

When Can Luggage and Personal Effects Cover Apply?
- Theft: If you’re browsing the bustling local markets and your wallet is stolen. Travellers must report to the police or (where applicable) the responsible transport provider and obtain a written report from them in respect of loss or theft or any item within 72 hours of discovering the loss or theft, or as soon as reasonably practicable.
- Loss or Misplacement: Luggage going missing in transit is, unfortunately, common.
- Damage: Your laptop might get damaged during airport security checks, or your camera could fall and break while exploring the local sights.
- Delayed Luggage: If your checked luggage is delayed by a carrier for more than 12 hours, you may need to purchase essential items like toiletries or a change of clothes.
- Stolen Passport: It’s every traveller’s worst nightmare. If your passport or other travel documents are stolen, we can cover the cost of replacement.

What’s Not Covered Under Luggage and Personal Effects?
- Wear and Tear: Damage due to general wear and tear.
- Unattended Belongings: Luggage going missing in transit is, unfortunately, common.
- Certain Items: Items left unsupervised in public areas or unlocked vehicles
Certain Items: sunglasses, dentures, motor vehicles, bicycles, or marine craft are some of the items we cannot cover. - Unapproved Activities: Damage or loss occurring during activities that are not covered under your policy, unless you have the appropriate upgrade.

1. Do I need a police report for lost or stolen luggage?
Yes. If your belongings are lost or stolen, you must file a police report within 72 hours, or as soon as reasonably practicable, and submit it with your claim.
2. Are high-value items like laptops or jewellery covered?
Yes, but there are specific limits for high-value items. Additional premiums may be required to increase these limits. Proof of ownership will also be needed when making a claim.
3. Can I get cover for additional specific items?
Yes. Simply specify the individual items and pay the additional premium when you buy your policy. We will pay up to the cost price of the item shown on your certificate of insurance, to the maximum limit of $4,000 per item subject to sub-limits, terms, conditions or exclusions.
4. Does this cover apply to delayed luggage?
If your luggage is delayed by more than 12 hours, we provide reimbursement for essential items under our Standard and Top policies. Keep your receipts and proof of the delay from the carrier for your claim.
