Civil Unrest Nepal

11 September 2025: 
The security environment throughout Nepal remains volatile due to recent widespread civil unrest and violence. Conditions may worsen unexpectedly. Authorities continue to impose curfews in the Kathmandu Valley and other major cities, and military checkpoints are active across Kathmandu. The protests started at 9am local time on Monday, 8 September 2025, and have escalated.

Policies Purchased before 12:00AM AEDT on 11 September 2025: Please be aware that our policies contain exclusions for acts of war and civil unrest or the use of military force.   
This means that if your flight is delayed, cancelled or rerouted due to the conflict, there may not be cover available under the policy.  

Policies Purchased After 12:00AM AEDT on 11 September 2025: Please be aware that our policies contain exclusions for known events, acts of war and civil unrest or the use of military force. Customers are not covered for claims arising from this event however, we will assess each situation on a case-by-case basis.

If your travel plans are affected 

If you need to change your travel arrangements, contact your airline, cruise company or travel agent for assistance in the first instance. Please retain all supporting documentation evidencing expenses incurred. Please remember as a term of your policy you must do everything you can to minimise losses.
