European Wildfires

As of 29 July 2026, severe wildfires have been widely reported across parts of Europe during the peak fire season, with significant activity in south-west France, Spain and Italy. Fires in the Bordeaux/Gironde region of France and areas of Spain including Madrid, Ávila, Toledo and Castellón have led to evacuations, road and transport disruption, and impacts to local accommodation and tourism services. Fire danger also remains elevated across wider southern and western Europe.
