  • Unlimited Overseas Medical Expenses: If you get sick or injured, all of our policies include unlimited coverage for emergency medical care, hospital treatment, and ambulance services. Whether you need necessary and reasonable treatment for a minor illness or more serious care requiring medical evacuation, Tick ensures your health remains a priority without worrying about massive bills.

Our Budget and Standard policies can cover you for up to $5,000, and our Top policy covers you for up to $20,000 in cancellation expenses, while cover for natural disasters is available as an add-on. That way, you’re not left out of pocket for a trip you can’t take.
  • Personal Belongings and Baggage: If your luggage is lost, damaged, or stolen, our policies can cover replacement costs. We can cover to the value of $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the policy you choose. If your camera goes missing while exploring, you’ll have the support you need to get back to snapping photos of paradise.

With Tick’s Standard and Top policies, you’re covered for additional expenses, such as accommodation, meals, and essential items while you wait. We can cover to a maximum of $500 for our Standard policy and $1,000 on our Top policy.
  • Rental Vehicle Excess Waiver: Planning a road trip? Renting a vehicle is a great way to explore, but accidents can happen. Our Standard and Top travel insurance plans can pay the excess costs for rental vehicles in case of damage or an accident up to $4,000, so you won’t be left with a hefty bill at the rental desk.
  • Cover for Natural Disasters: If you’re travelling somewhere that’s prone to hurricanes, cyclones, floods, earthquakes and even volcanic eruptions, we’ve got you covered. Tick Travel Insurance provides coverage for trip disruptions, cancellations, or additional expenses caused by natural disasters, available when natural disaster cover is purchased as an add-on.

What’s not covered

Our policies aren’t designed to cover everything. Understanding exclusions helps you avoid surprises. Some of the things we can’t cover include:
  • Undeclared Pre-Existing Medical Conditions: Medical conditions that are pre-existing and not disclosed during the application process are not covered.
  • High-Risk Activities: Injuries or accidents from participating in high-risk or extreme sports (e.g., mountaineering or racing) are not covered. We cannot cover other activities without the appropriate coverage add-ons.
  • Travelling Against Official Advice: Travelling to destinations that are subject to “do not travel” advice from the Australian Government. Check Smartraveller for more information.
  • Unattended Luggage and Belongings: Loss, theft, or damage to luggage or personal effects that were left unattended in public places or unsecured locations is not covered.
  • Alcohol and Drug Use: We can't cover claims where the traveller was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, other than those prescribed by a medical professional.
It’s important to be aware of what you are and aren’t covered for under travel insurance. Be sure to read your Product Disclosure Statement for the full terms and conditions.

What are the Important Things to Consider When Buying Travel Insurance?

It can be confusing to know which travel insurance policy is right for you. Follow these 3 tips and you can travel easily, knowing you’ve got the right policy for your needs.
  1. Coverage inclusions: Ensure your policy includes coverage for overseas medical expenses, trip cancellations and interruptions and baggage and personal items. These are the most common claims scenarios, so be sure your policy offers them. Ensure you are comfortable with the policy limits for coverage.
  2. Service and Support: Ensure your policy provides a 24/7 global assistance network. There’s no telling when an emergency might occur, or what time zone you’ll be in. It’s also important to purchase a policy from a trusted brand with great customer service and quality policies. Awards and reviews are a good place to start.
  3. Claims Process: Look for travel insurers that allow online claims submissions and quick processing. Clear, easy-to-understand guides on what documentation and information are required for a claim are also helpful.
At Tick Travel Insurance, we’ve made it easy to protect your trip, so you can focus on enjoying it!

What are the Visa Requirements when Travelling

Tourist Visa requirements vary depending on the country, purpose of travel, and the length of stay. It’s up to you to be aware of different visa requirements:
  • Some countries do not require Visas for Australian passport holders
  • Some countries require an eVisa or ETA (Electronic Travel Authority)
  • Some countries require you to apply for a Visa through the embassy or consulate before travelling
  • Some countries require a Visa on arrival.
If you’re travelling for work, study or planning to stay longer than the tourist Visa, you’ll probably need a specific Visa.

Beyond ensuring you have the right type of Visa for your trip, you may also need to consider:
  • Passport Validity: Most countries require a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay.
  • Proof of Funds: Some destinations require evidence that you can financially support yourself during your trip.
  • Return or Onward Ticket: You may need to show proof of return travel or onward plans.
  • Vaccination Certificates: Certain countries (e.g., Yellow Fever risk areas) may require proof of vaccination.
