At the time of writing, there a Cyclone, called Cyclone Gita, affecting Tonga and surrounding areas in the Pacific Region. 

As of 8.00pm (AEST) on 13th of February 2017, Cyclone Gita is considered a known event. 

This means that for all policies purchased after this incident became a known event, claims that arise because of this incident will not be covered, even if you bought the natural disaster cover add-on. 

Are You Still Covered For Claims Related To The Bushfires In California? 

Important note: all medical claims related to natural disasters are covered automatically on all of our international policies, regardless of whether you purchased the natural disaster cover add-on. 

  • If you bought your policy before 8.00pm (AEST) on 13th of February 2017, you will be covered for any claims that are related to Cyclone Gita, as long as you bought the natural disaster cover add-on. 
  • If you bought your policy between 8.00pm (AEST) on 13th of February 2017 and 8.00pm (AEST) on 19th of February 2017, you will not be covered for any claims that are related to Cyclone Gita, as long as you bought the natural disaster cover add-on. 
  • If you bought your policy between 8.45pm (AEST) on 19th of February 2017 and 10.47pm (AEST) on 20th of February 2017, you will be covered for any claims that are related to Cyclone Gita, as long as you bought the natural disaster cover add-on. 
  • If you bought your policy after 10.47pm (AEST) on 20th of February 2017, you will not be covered for any claims that are related to Cyclone Gita, even if you bought the natural disaster cover add-on. 
  • With the exception of medical costs, you will not be covered for any claims related to Cyclone Gita if you did not buy the natural disaster cover add-on, regardless of when you bought your policy.
